Schoolhouse Electric Company grew from a deeply felt passion for the vernacular of the 1930’s hardware store and the simple, no-nonsense aesthetic of the era’s lighting design. So much so, the ﬁrst check they issued us was hammered out on an old manual typewriter.
After immersing ourselves in the history of the manufacturing processes and printed materials of the era, we gave it form the old-fashioned way – with hand-drawn custom typography and attention to detail.
